|Juvenile Probation Officer||Juvenile Probation||$32,240.00 - $36,275.20||To assure that juveniles brought to the attention of the courts receive the guidance, care, and control, preferbly in each juvenile's own home, which will best serve the emotional, mental, and physical welfare of the juvenile and the best interest of the state. Also to protect society more effectively by substituting for retributive restitutionm, recognizing that the application of sanctions which are consistent with the seriousness of the offense is appropriate in all cases||Requires a 4-year degree in psychology, criminal justice, education, or a related field. In addition, 2-3 years of experience in the field is required. Must attend a 40-hour Juvenile Probation Officer certification course and complete the annual continuing education requirements. Candidates with training or certification in the areas of mental health, abuse, substance abuse and other related topics will be stronger candidates. BILINGUAL PREFERRED, will be able to increase entry level pay for those which can fluently speak Spanish and English. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise a strong ability to manage multiple demands and time. Person that can work in a fast pace office with youth and families in the Juvenile Justice System. Must be able to quickly problem solve and have excellent communication skills with the public and all other stakeholders involved with the families. Office hours are 8-4:30, however, this position will have non traditional hours in the evening and weekends as well be available to assist families and staff by being available 24/7 if an emergency arises.

|Case Manager||Public Defender's Office||$13.45--$15.13||The Case Manager is accountable for case docketing and case tracking in the office of the Public Defender. This includes the gathering of affidavits for new cases and preparation of new files and probation revocation files used in court by the defense attorneys. The Case Manager is also accountable for obtaining, docketing in computer and distributing hearing dates for all Circuit cases; preparing and distributing to defense attorneys copies of court dockets and any paperwork needed for upcoming arraignments and revocation hearings. Work involves considerable interaction with the public and various agencies, often under short deadlines. The Case Manager is responsible for notifying defense attorneys of changes in court hearing dates, making arrangements for interpreters, and notifying defendants in court and by mail of future hearing dates and changes in court dates. The Case Manager will be responsible for making requests in a timely manner to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and Circuit Clerk’s Office regarding files needed for copying and review. The Case Manager is responsible for keeping accurate statistics of Circuit/felony charges and reporting same to the Chief Public Defender and the State Public Defender’s Commission on a monthly basis. The Case Manager will also assist with correspondence to clients and communicating with the public by telephone (screening calls and forwarding messages) in a polite and efficient manner.||High School Diploma or GED, 3 to 5 years office environment with emphasis on computer skills. Must be organized and mulititask well, understanding legal teminology a plus.

Operates snow plows and/or sand and salt spreaders during winter storms and may be required to work long hours including nights and weekends. Makes sure truck is well maintained and follows the required maintenance schedule. May assist in directing traffic flow in work zones and patching potholes.||Must hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License and a high school diploma or equivalent.
